This June, Global Gathering Place (GGP) will award a total of $5,000 in scholarships to help refugees and immigrants access post-secondary education, training courses, and certificate programs. GGP is honoured that New Community Credit Union’s legacy of fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers to Canada will continue with this scholarship.

Application forms must be completed by May 15, 2025. Recipients will be notified early June. The scholarship award ceremony will be at GGP’s AGM on June 18, 2025. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend the event.

Please note that this scholarship is not applicable for courses completed prior to June 1, 2025. 

Application Criteria:

• The applicant must confirm their application to a post-secondary program, training course, or certificate program in Canada
• The applicant must demonstrate financial need and may be contacted to prove sources of income
• The applicant must be a client of GGP who has been active at GGP within the past five years
• This scholarship must be used before June 1, 2026

Application Process:

• Complete and submit the application form by May 15, 2025 which includes:
  • A 500 word summary of your personal settlement journey
  • A 150 word summary of your goals for future employment
