Learn About Our New Program!

Racialized newcomer women are the newcomer group most likely to experience prolonged unemployment. The Pre-employment and Skills Development Support for Racialized Immigrant Women Project is a new program Global Gathering Place is offering in partnership with fellow settlement agencies across Canada. The program is aimed at helping racialized immigrant women gain the skills and experience to obtain a job in the sales and service sector. There are three intakes, each consisting of 8 weeks of in-class instruction followed by a 4-week work placement. During the in-class portion, participants develop employment readiness skills, improve English language abilities, and become certified in WHMIS, First Aid, and Food Safe. We are also excited to announce that program participants will receive financial compensation for their participation!

We are looking for employers for the four-week work placements! For the duration of the placement, the participant’s wages will be fully covered by the program. Employers can staff an employee from our program for 26 hours a week at no cost to their business or organization.

Other benefits for employers include:

  • A workplace diversity and inclusivity presentation from trained staff at Global Gathering Place
  • Diversified staff with skilled individuals
  • Invitation to networking events and job fair at the end of the program
  • Participation in a valuable national project being studied by the Government of Canada
