The Cultural Health Navigator Facilitator will coordinate the Cultural Health Navigator program and interpretation services by recruiting CHNs and interpreters, organizing training, scheduling, and invoicing. They will be responsible for the planning and development of the Cultural Health Navigator program and interpretation services.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the Cultural Health Navigator program
  • Develops and maintains a current and accurate resource directory
  • Research similar programs across Canada
  • Recruits and interviews potential Cultural Health Navigators and interpreters
  • Builds community partnerships within the health sector and assists in scheduling interpreters when needed
  • Provides support to other GGP programs and services by scheduling CHNs or interpreters to attend appointments
  • Prepares reports required by GGP as needed for program development, evaluation, or for funders and partners
  • Writes and applies for applicable grants
  • Helps to ensure that service providers in the community are adequately informed and trained to effectively serve immigrants, refugees, and ethno-cultural communities
  • Organizes health tours
  • Evaluates CHNs and interpreters
  • Assists with registering clients and provides short-term support when required (employment support, community referrals, applications for government assistance, etc.)
  • Provides one-on one support to clients by connecting them to relevant community and settlement programs
  • Accompanies clients to appointments as needed
  • Documents client sessions and evaluate client progress

 

Qualifications:

  • A University degree in the humanities, social sciences, or related discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ working in a related area. Experience in program and/or community development, coordination, marketing and/or liaising is an asset
  • Experience working with refugees is an asset
  • Experience and commitment to promoting environments where diversity in background, thought and practice is welcomed and valued
