Individual Client Support
A fundamental element of the client-centred service that Global Gathering Place offers to each one of its clients, is the ability to provide support that is tailored to clients’ needs. This is accomplished by treating each client as an individual, listening to needs, and offering a combination of one-on-one support and group activities and sessions.
The Settlement Advisor at GGP can provide information, link to community resources and services to help newcomers who have been in Saskatchewan less than two years address issues related to settlement. Newcomers can meet one-on-one to develop a settlement plan, and to receive help to begin to address settlement needs on a wide range of topics including health, documentation, and employment.
Strategies for Success
Clients who face multiple barriers to settlement can receive one-on-one assistance to develop a plan that will help them move from vulnerable to safe situations and will connect them to resources in the community that can address these issues.
Client Intake and Referrals
Clients can meet one-on-one to discuss their settlement needs and receive assistance and referrals. Through this service, clients have access to a wide network of support and are able to seek help and advice with all their settlement needs.
Clients can be matched to a volunteer who can meet with them on an individual basis to help them overcome their settlement challenges. Visits focus on reducing feelings of isolation, improving language skills, preparing for exams, attending medical appointments, or connecting with community resources.
GGP has a Notary Public on site who can provide drop-in notary services to clients.
Income Tax Support
Clients can receive help from a volunteer to complete their Income Tax returns through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
