Mental Health Counselling

The promotion of mental health is critical for settlement and integration. GGP has partnered with the Saskatoon Health Region, Adult Community Mental Health and Addictions Services and Youth Community Counselling as well as a private psychologist, in order to offer four different programs that address gaps in mental health services for newcomers.

Interested individuals should call the office at 306-665-0268 to book an appointment.

Counselling

One-on-one sessions with a mental health counsellor provide an opportunity for clients to discuss their feelings and develop better ways of coping with stress, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, adjusting to a new culture, and so on. Interpretation is available if needed.

Counselling for Adolescents and the Parents of Adolescents

A mental health counsellor trained to work specifically with youth and issues relating to youth provides one-on-one counselling.

Somatic Experiencing Therapy

A registered psychologist works one-on-one with newcomers to help them recover from trauma through Somatic Experiencing therapy. This therapy has a focus on building an individual's ability to stay present and aware while tracking bodily sensations, images, behaviours, meanings, and emotions.

Landing and Settling Group Therapy Program

Led by mental health counsellors, guided group learning sessions help newcomers develop strategies for dealing with a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, family violence, and anger management.
