Family, Fun & Fit makes local activities accessible to Saskatoon’s newest residents

Even during the pandemic, Saskatoon is still becoming home for many newcomers. For new residents, there are more challenges than usual. Once quarantine is over, there are limited spaces to meet new people, learn about Saskatoon, and enjoy the new surroundings.

Over the summer, GGP started to engage in safe, outdoor activities with the Family, Fun & Fit (FFF) program. FFF provides opportunities to create social connections, learn about our city’s facilities, and explore new local activities that newcomers may not otherwise find or access. Clients learned to play disc golf and tennis, and went hiking and to the zoo. They even tried rhythmic gymnastics in the park!

For some newcomers, Family, Fun & Fit offers a first opportunity to meet friends in the city. FFF helped other families, after months of isolation, learn to play a new sport that they can continue to safely play outdoors before the snow falls. GGP is happy to facilitate these increasingly rare moments that make a new place feel more like home.
